Jon Bon Jovi Live and 'Alive' in Iowa: He Comes, He Rocks, He Conquers

Jon Bon Jovi rocked Iowa City before heading to Des Moines.

Jon Bon Jovi played to a throng of people on the University of Iowa campus Friday, raising the temperature on a chilly afternoon dedicated to getting out the vote for President Obama.

In front of about 2,000 people at Hubbard Park, Bon Jovi took to the stage and strummed out, "Living on a Prayer," "Wanted Dead or Alive," "You Can't Go Home," and "Saturday Night."

"I totally support Obama but I'm totally here for Jon Bon Jovi," said Chris Sharp, 44, of Iowa City. "I was decided a long time ago, no question, but this is icing on the cake."

"I know who I'm going to vote for. I'm not here to influence your vote," he said, adding later, "I'm asking you to make a conscious decision to vote for the change you want to be."

Ali Woodward, 20, a University of Iowa student, said is excited for this election because she was unable to vote for President Barack Obama in the previous election.

"I hope a lot of young people will vote for him," she said. "A lot of people my age weren't able to vote for him the last time, so this is our chance."

She said she was too young to a fan of Bon Jovi but that she "respected him" and came with her mother who was the bigger fan.

Jody Frondle, 44, of Cedar Rapids said she was excited to see Bon Jovi but also wanted to support the president's campaign.

"If they're going to go to the trouble to bring Bon Jovi all the way to Iowa then I am going to support it," Frondle said.

Frondle said after the show that despite the long wait in the cold and the relatively short set, the experience was enjoyable for her.
