Hot, Hot, Humid, Sticky, Hot: This Week in Iowa City Weather

Say goodbye to that beautiful perfect weather of last week, the Dog Days of Summer are upon us.

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities is predicting highs in the 90s all week, with a heat index most likely eclipsing 100 degrees.

There looks to be a slight chance of rain tonight, but besides that it should be clear and hot until the end of the week, when more rain could bring cooler temperatures along with it.

  • Monday A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. East wind around 10 mph.
  • Monday Night A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind around 5 mph.
  • Tuesday  Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Tuesday Night  Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.
  • Wednesday  Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
  • Wednesday Night  Mostly clear, with a low around 73.
  • Thursday  Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
  • Thursday  Night Mostly clear, with a low around 74.
And for you RAGBRAI riders next week, according to the Weather Underground extended forecast for Iowa you should have a cooler start to your ride, but you may face the same scorching temperatures as well as thunderstorms.
