Denise Hamlin, Neighbor

I'm a well-travelled Brit who relocated to the Iowa City area in 2000. I've lived in many places, Hong kong, Singapore and Germany high on that list and often get asked where I liked it best. My standard answer is I always like it best where I am. If I didn't, I'd move.  I love living in Iowa, (although the winters aren't my favorite). Iowans are the most helpful people I know. If your car breaks down in Iowa it won't take long for someone to stop and help. It's not like that everywhere...

My day job is as a real estate broker with my new company, Cardinal Realty in Coralville. I'm a new age Realtor who thinks the face of real estate is changing through the advent of the Internet. I'm cool with that. In November 2011 I got my Broker's License and with my new company intend to take most of my operations online. (Except for the showing homes part of course!)

I see real estate as a service industry and am definitely not about "selling" anything. I cringe when I go into (some) furniture stores and they give me "the upsell." Apparently they didn't get the memo - We're not in the marketing '90's anymore! At any rate, I'm all about helping folks buy and sell homes in the Iowa City area.

It goes without saying my well-travelled background gives me the edge when it comes to helping buyers relocating to the Iowa City area. I certainly have first hand experience of the challenges and can definitely trade stories when it comes to the trials and tribulations of moving!
