An Iowa City man faced several charges after vomiting up the marijuana he had been allegedly attempting to conceal by ingesting a bag of it. On Nov. 12, Christopher Williams, 22, of 2208 Miami Drive, Iowa City was charged with marijuana possession and obstruction of justice related to a previous apprehension-- a serious misdemeanor and an aggravated misdemeanor-- after he was stopped by police for having no license plates on his vehicle at 7:04 p.m. at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Taylor Drive. From Iowa City Police Criminal Complaints Rachael Marie Cantu, 19, of 815 E. Washington Street, Iowa City, was charged with second-degree burglary for an offense that allegedly occurred on Sept. 17 at 5:00 a.m. Police say that Cantu entered an apartment at 332 S. Linn St. and took a plaid shirt. After being confronted by the tenant of that apartment, Cantu denied having taken the shirt or being in the apartment. Police say Cantu left behind her wet pants and purse with her identification and cell phone. Police say Cantu was observed trying to enter four different apartments by trying to open locked doors. Police say that when she was later confronted, Cantu admitted post-Miranda to trying to enter the apartment to search for dry pants. She…

Thursday Police/Fire Stories From Iowa City Patch Update: Cause of Wednesday Night Apartment Fire Determined to be Accidental, Says Iowa City Fire Department According to a release from the Iowa City Fire Department, the cause of last night's fire at 2401 Highway 6 was determined to be accidental. The fire department states that investigators believe the fire was caused by unattended cooking that spread from out-of-control cooking oil to nearby combustible materials.
