Prostitution Sting Leads to Human Trafficking Charge: Patch Poll

Two local women were arrested in an Iowa City prostitution sting. Is prostitution a major problem in Eastern Iowa? Should police conduct more prostitution stings?

A woman from Cedar Falls and a woman from Waterloo were both arrested in an Iowa City prostitution sting this week. Melody Kanosha McCullom, 21, of Waterloo, faces the most serious charges. In addition to prostitution, she also has been charged with felony pimping, human trafficking, and pandering for involving her underage sister in prostitution and allegedly taking money from her after she collected the money from these acts. In all 16 people were arrested. They were mainly from Eastern Iowa but from out of state as well. Is prostitution a major problem in Eastern Iowa? Should police conduct more prostitution stings?
