I love Murphy-Brookfield Books because the owners really know their books. I decided that I wanted to educate myself on the Irish famine of 1845-49, when the potato blight starved over a million Irish men, women, and children. Irish immigration to the U.S. and Canada really picked up during the famine. A man (an owner?) knew just the books for me, right off the top of his head, and brought me "The Great Hunger," a history of the famine, and also an historical novel, Liam O'Flaherty's "Famine," which gave me a sense of what it was like for an Irish family during the famine. I absolutely loved both books and plan to read them again some time. I was in and out in a minute or two and happy with both purchases.
