Founded in 1981 to serve adults age 50 and above, the Senior Center is located in the restored historic post office in downton Iowa City. The mission of the Senior Center is to encourage optimal aging among older adults by offering programs and services that promote wellness, social interaction, community engagement and intellectual growth. The center serves the public through intergenerational programming and community outreach. It offers a full array of classes, activities and volunteer opportunities that support independence and encourage involvement in the community. Membership to the center is available to anyone age 50 or above.
- Hours: Business hours: Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm. Extended member hours: Mon - Thu, 7am - 7pm; Fri, 7am - 5pm; Sat, Sun, 10:30am - 1:30pm. Elder services' nutrition program hours: Daily, 11am - 12:30pm.
