VIDEO: Meet Sweet Lorainne, a Young Dog in Need of a Good Home

Each week Iowa City Patch features an animal at the Iowa City Animal Shelter in need of a good home. This week meet Lorainne, a smart and happy dog that would be a great fit for many different living situations with a little bit of training.

This week Lauren Meyers, volunteer at the , introduces us to Lorainne, a one-year-old boxer pitbull terrier mix. Lorainne is easy to train and has mastered sit (see the video) and is good for both an active owner and for someone who wants to sit around the house and relax, Meyers said. Lorainne can get excitable around other dogs and cats, but this can be remedied by more obedience training she said.

For more information on adopting Lorainne, you can call the Animal Shelter at: (319) 356-5295. Or visit the shelter at 4852 Sand Rd SE.

Name Lorainne Center ID 071430 Arrival Date 05/02/2012 Gender Female Spayed Yes Age 1 year Breed Boxer/Pit Bull Terrier Description White/Brindle Kennel Trained Yes Estimated
Adult Weight 55 lbs. Compatible
with Dogs May do fine, recommend a proper introduction. May benefit from healthy dog park play once she has bonded to her new owner and has a good recall. Compatible
with Cats May do fine, but shows some interest in chasing. Recommend supervision initially, dog-savvy cats best. Compatible
with Children Any age - she may jump up, supervision recommended with small children so she doesn't push them down. Comments Lorainne is a very happy, eager to please, people-loving dog. She tends to jump up (out of excitement) when she first meets people, but she's working on improving her greeting behavior by learning sit and sit/stay. Lorainne is active and likes to explore on walks or play in the yard, but she's also content to relax nearby once she's been properly exercised.
