VIDEO: Meet Sage, Iowa City Patch's Adopt this Pet of the Week (Adopted)

Every Saturday, Patch.com will feature an animal from the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Shelter that is in need of a good home. In this week's installment, meet Sage, a bouncy hound mix that needs an energetic owner.

This week, Charlotte Tobiason, program director at the Iowa City Animal Shelter, introduces us to Sage. Tobiason said Sage is not yet a year old, and is so full of energy that he has been returned to the shelter after being adopted previously. Tobiason said for this reason Sage needs an energetic owner who is willing to excercise him on a daily basis. Tobiason notes that for fans of going to the dog park, or who already own canine companions, Sage plays very well with other dogs.

For more information on adopting Sage, you can call the Animal Shelter at: (319) 356-5295. Or visit the shelter at 4852 Sand Rd SE.

Name Sage Center ID 067186 Arrival Date 07/26/2011 Gender Male Neutered Yes Age 1 year Breed Hound Description Tri-color Kennel Trained Yes Estimated
Adult Weight 50 lbs. Compatible

He will make a wonderful family pet. He loves to use his nose and is very food motivated, he would be great at canine nose work games or just playing "find it" with toys that hide treats inside! Sage's only bad habit is jumping up, but we're working to diminish that here at the shelter. He's a fast learner - he already knows sit, shake, high five, and down.
