Video: Meet Harley, Iowa City Patch's Adopt this Pet of the Week (Adopted)
Each Saturday, Iowa City Patch features an animal at the Iowa City Animal Shelter in need of a good home. This week, meet Harley, a gentle German shelter that needs a loving owner.
Liz Ford, animal care technician as the Iowa City Animal Shelter, introduces us to Harley. Harley is a four-year-old German Shepherd who has just returned to the shelter after a few months of being hosted by a foster home in the community. Ford says Harley tested positive for heartworm earlier in his life and is still being monitored by the shelter after he received treatment. She said as his heart strengthens, the shelter recommends Harley undergo only light exercise.
Besides this, Ford said that Harley is a loving companion that would fit perfectly with a loving family. She said despite his size, he considers himself a lap dog, and would be great for either taking on walks or lounging on the couch.
For more information on adopting Harley you can call the Animal Shelter at: (319) 356-5295. Or visit the shelter at 4852 Sand Rd SE.
