VIDEO: Meet Gusto, Iowa City Patch's Adopt this Pet of the Week (ADOPTED)

Each week Iowa City Patch features an animal from the Iowa City Animal Shelter that needs a good home. Today we feature Gusto, a bouncy terrier mix that'd be a great canine companion.

This week Liz Ford, animal care technician as the Iowa City Animal Shelter, introduces us to Gusto, an energetic terrier mix who loves to show off his skills at agility tests. Ford said Gusto is a friendly dog, and also very intelligent, which is what makes him so good at learning new tricks. Not only that, but he is very young, so he has several years ahead of him.

For more information on adopting Gusto you can call the Animal Shelter at: (319) 356-5295. Or visit the shelter at 4852 Sand Rd SE.

He can be nervous in new situations and with new people, and he is uncomfortable and somewhat fearful of being handled (paws, ears, mouth, or held for exam). He may need a little extra time to relax and warm up to people, and he may jump in your lap for some attention while he's getting to know you. Gusto is smart and very food motivated - he should respond well to reward-based training.
