(VIDEO) Meet Gabby and Gusto: Two Animals That Still Need Homes

This week, Iowa City Patch is refeaturing two animals from the Iowa City Animal Shelter who still need to be adopted.

This week Hemmy, our most recent pet of the week, was adopted after being seen on Iowa City Patch.

Rather than feature a whole new animal this week, I thought I would give another look at two animals we've featured recently who haven't been adoptednyet. Watch videos of both animals above.

The first animal is a small terrier mix named Gusto. Here's what I wrote about him in his profile:

This week Liz Ford, animal care technician as the Iowa City Animal Shelter, introduces us to Gusto, an energetic terrier mix who loves to show off his skills at agility tests. Ford said Gusto is a friendly dog, and also very intelligent, which is what makes him so good at learning new tricks. Not only that, but he is very young, so he has several years ahead of him.

I challenge you to watch the video of that dog doing agility drills and somehow keep from smiling.

The second animal I'm featuring is Gabby, the grey tabby cat. Here's her description:

This week, Willa Hamilton, Iowa City Animal Services Officer at the Iowa City Animal Shelter, introduces us to Gabby, a grey cat who is social, warm and friendly if she can approach you on her own terms. Hamilton says Gabby is a loving lap cat, who loves to sashay around the room and greet people with loving head butts. For this reason Hamilton says Gabby is one of the favorite cats at the shelter. Gabby does not, however, enjoy being picked up, and would much rather curl up in your lap at her own convenience.

Gabby is such a funny independent cat. It's a shame that she's been overlooked so far.

For more information on adopting Gabby and Gusto you can call the Animal Shelter at: (319) 356-5295. Or visit the shelter at 4852 Sand Rd SE.
