VIDEO: Cat Saved from a Tree by Good Samaritans up for Adoption, Iowa City Patch Adopt this Pet of the Week

Each week we introduce a new animal at the Iowa City Animal Shelter that is in need of a good home. This week we meet Frankie, a cat that was rescued from a tree by some concerned citizens.

They say that cats have Nine Lives. After the rough start Frankie has had, I think she will settle for just one good one.

This week Liz Ford, animal care technician as the Iowa City Animal Shelter, introduces us to Frankie, otherwise known as the Tree Kittie.

Frankie spent more than five cold days in January stuck in a tree before some Good Samaritans came to her rescue.

Frankie barely survived the ordeal, and had to be nursed back from an upper respiratory infection and wounds to her rear and tail that left lingering damage. Ford said that part of her tail had to be amputated due to her injury.

Even beyond this, the cat was so traumatized by the experience that she didn't respond to human affection, and the shelter workers worried that she was feral. Still, time and patience won out, and Frankie, although very shy and still recovering, has shown that she can be a cat that is eligible to be adopted to a good, quiet home.
