West High Defeats City High in Battle for the Boot

It was not a pretty result in Friday's nights rivalry game, unless you happen to be a Trojan fan.

On Friday night West High defeated City High at Trojan Field with the final score of 44-0.

It was a complete mismatch from the beginning of the game.

Class 4A No. 2 Iowa City West pounded Iowa City High in a 44-0 blowout last night at Trojan Field to regain possession of the Battle for the Boot trophy for the first time since 2004. The Little Hawks never got past West’s 40-yard line.

“It’s hard for me to even put into words how great this feels,” Sauser said. “You put up with four years of crap and everybody talks you guys can’t do this and you can’t do that. You keep plugging away and you keep believing that if you do things right, eventually it will be your night.

The result shows how much change a year can make. The Boot returns to Trojan control after City High defeated West last year 42-24.
