Volunteer coaches also needed!

For $37.50 and one class a week for five weeks, your son or daughter can learn the basics of a sport that can bring a lifetime of recreation and great exercise: basketball. The Iowa City Recreation Division is now taking registrations for the Fall Youth Basketball Program, with openings available for kindergarten through sixth grade students. Volunteer coaches are also being sought to lead the teams and teach students about the game.

The program focuses on a three-on-three format, which gives each student more time with the ball and increases the opportunity to learn the basics of the game. In the first two weeks, students learn some of the game fundamentals, while the following three weeks focus on more fundamentals training, along with a 30-minute game. All sessions get underway in November and are held at Scanlon Gym, 2701 Bradford Drive.
