NCAA College Wrestling Results: Iowa v. Iowa State

The Iowa Hawkeyes and ISU Cyclones go at it in Carver-Hawkeye arena.

It was youth versus youthful experience as Iowa defeated Iowa State in NCAA College wrestling Saturday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, 32-3.

The Des Moines Register reported the Cyclones (0-1) were favored at just one weight – 197 pounds – against the No. 4 Hawkeyes (5-0), who have now won nine straight and 39 of the last 41 in the series.

None of Iowa State’s projected had wrestled in Carver-Hawkeye Arena, according to the Register. On the other hand, the top three wrestlers in the Iowa lineup – two-time 125-pound NCAA champion Matt McDonough, Ramos and top-ranked 157-pounder Derek St. John – are a combined 62-1 in their career.
