Iowa-UNI: Kick-Off Time, Betting Lines, Television Info, and Prediction

Vegas Prediction: Iowa is favored by oddsmakers by 9 points, likely due to home field advantage for the Hawkeyes in Iowa City.

Previous Games: Iowa Hawkeyes lost to rival Iowa State at home 9-6, Northern Iowa defeated Central State University 59-0.

This is a very interesting game to predict.

For one, Iowa has been incredibly inconsistent on offense, scoring just one touchdown in its first two games, one of them a narrow win, another a narrow loss.

Conversely, the Northern Iowa Panthers have looked pretty good, giving a probably overrated but nontheless talented Wisconsin Badgers team a run for their money 26-21. And pounding Central State University 59-0.

Also, Iowa barely beat Northern Iowa with one of its better teams the last time these two schools met in 2009, needing to block two field goals to maintain a 17-16 win.

But looks may be deceiving.

Iowa is still a young team with new coaches, and one would think will benefit from the experiences of the first two games. 

On the Northern Iowa side, Wisconsin, although not as good as previous years (methinks) still led 26-7 in their game with the Panthers before UNI rallied on the arm of freshman quarterback Sawyer Kollermorgen. And while the margin of victory appears impessive in the second game, the Central University Marauders come from a town of less than 2,000 people called Wilberforce, Ohio. Not judging, I'm just saying they probably are not the world's greatest team.

This game is extremely dangerous for Iowa because Northern Iowa, although the underdog, undoubtedly has noticed Iowa's struggles and believes they can win. And traveling into an opposing stadium against a bigger league team, that confidence can go along way.

Still, the Hawkeyes have to know their season is on the line here, and although I'm guessing the game will be heart torturingly close, with Northern Iowa leading at points, Iowa's superior size and the fieldgoal kicking of Mike Meyer will win the game in the end.

Final Score: Hawkeyes: 23, Panthers: 21.
