Student Art Project to be Dedicated at Party in the Park Event this Thursday Night

Thursday night's Party in the Park Show in Pheasant HIll Park will also feature a dedication of public artwork in the park created by students from Lemme Elementary School, Hoover Elementary School, and City High School.

Now you have two reasons to head out to Thursday night at Pheasant Hill Park.

In addition to games, arts and crafts, ice cream, and live music by Mark and Brandi Janssen, there will also be the formal dedication of student artwork in the park done by students with the financial support of the Iowa City Public Art Program, according to a city press release.

Using a woodland creatures theme, designs for a bench and 10 pillars that create a walkway in the park were created by elementary students from Lemme and Hoover Elementary Schools. These designs were then applied to the structures by City High School art students under the direction of teacher Jill Harper. The students applied the designs by affixing glass mosaics on the concrete structures, according to the release.
