Iowa City School Board Meeting at Noon Tuesday to Consider Personnel Action

An agenda posted by the Iowa City School District has the school board meeting on Tuesday at noon to consider a personnel action. An open session may follow afterward where that action would take place.

The Iowa City School Board will hold a meeting closed to the public and media for a rare noon meeting on Tuesday.

What will they be discussing? You may have to wait until the meeting to find out.

An agenda of the meeting has the board members in a closed session tomorrow. The justification for this meeting being closed is listed as both discussing strategy for imminent or continuing legal action as well as an assessment of an employee whose "professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performanceor discharge is being considered."

Following this closed session on the agenda is a potential open session where the results of this personnel discussion would have to be enacted by the board.

Iowa City Superintendent Steve Murley did not reply to an email seeking more information about the meeting.
