Transgender Medical Symposium on University of Iowa Campus this Weekend

Local transgender activists are hosting a symposium on medical issues facing the trans community this weekend.

The 2012 Eastern Iowa Transgender Medical Symposium is his Saturday and Sunday at the.

Organizers say the goal of the event is to provide local health care and wellness professionals with information on how to treat trans patients.

Health care issues among trans people came to light earlier this year when the Daily Iowan published a story about a trans man's months-long ordeal to get proper treatment. Then this month, Iowa City Patch reported that another local trans man said he had had at the .
