7. A Marion-raised TV anchor who now works in La Crosse, WI, responded to a letter claiming she wasn't "a suitable example" for the community because of her weight. Jennifer Livingston responded in an on-air segment that has gone viral and got people talking about bullying.

6. Ames residents are weighing in on an attempt by the city to ban home gun sales businesses. The community currently allows home gun sales but forbids other home businesses, such as fitness instruction and dance classes. Neighbors of a man with a home gun business petitioned to add this to the list of prohibited home occupations

5. West Des Moines Patch editor Beth Dalbey offers us a look at Cooper’s on 5th, a charming 44-seat restaurant that offers upscale comfort food in Historic Valley Junction. The restaurant is coming up on its one-year anniversary.

4. A Goodwill Industries employee in Waukee exhibited something less than goodwill when he decided he wanted something that wasn't for sale. Christopher Lee of Des Moines allegedly took an Apple iPod from a fellow employee's purse.  He was charged with fourth-degree theft.

2. Police are still investigating a shooting involving young teenagers in Ankeny. A 13-year-old Berwick boy was in town visiting friends. Authorities found him in the parents' bedroom with a single gunshot to the head and was taken to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. A 14-year-old girl and her 13-year-old brother were in the home at the time and are being treated as witnesses.
