President Obama to Visit the University of Iowa's Field House Wednesday, Talk Student Loan Debt

President Barack Obama will return to the same location he visited last time he was in Iowa City.

The White House must have liked how the last visit went.

President Barack Obama will be returning to Iowa City and speaking at the University of Iowa's Field House, the same location he visited the last time he came to Iowa City in 2010. The event is scheduled to begin shortly after 1:00 p.m.

During his previous travel to Iowa City, President Obama lobbied for his controversial health care reform legislation, resulting in him being heckled from someone in the crowd for the bill not being a single-payer, public option system.

In this visit, Obama is scheduled to talk about his efforts to convince congress to prevent "interest rates on student loans from doubling in July," according to a White House media release. This is a reference to the College Cost Reduction and Access Act, passed in 2007 that is set to expire on July 1 if does not act to extend it.

The event is free and open to the public and tickets were given out on a first come first serve basis starting at noon today from the ticket office at the Iowa Memorial Union.
