Newt Gingrich Visiting Iowa City on Wednesday

The current Republican frontrunner will be on campus at University of Iowa on Wednesday to talk about, of all things, brain science.

Newt Gingrich, when earlier this year, said that he would be interested in returning again to talk about one of his passions -- health care, specifically brain research.

It looks like the GOP presidential hopeful is going to make good on that statement.

Gingrich, who recently surged to the top of the polls, will be visiting the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF) on the University of Iowa campus (see map) on Wednesday. A public discussion will begin promptly at 2:45 p.m. at 1110 MERF.

On Wednesday evening, the former Speaker of the House will be joining GOP rivals Rick Perry, Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines for the premier of "The Gift of Life." This is a documentary about abortion issues being presented by 2008 GOP presidential candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
