Low Turnout So Far on Iowa City Election Day

With only city council positions on the ticket this cycle, and miserable weather, turnout is not especially high. Still an opportunity to make your vote count if you get it in before 8 p.m.!

Well there's good news and bad news.

The bad news is turnout has been low so far for the Iowa City City Council election.

The good news is that will make your vote count even more, so get out and vote!

According to figures from the Johnson County Auditor, as of 3 p.m. this afternoon 2,413 votes had been cast, which is just 4.71 percent of all registered voters eligible to vote in this election.

Johnson County Auditor Tom Slockett reported in his Twitter feed that the voting turnout at 11:00 a.m. in Iowa City was the third lowest election day turnout in 30 years, while the 9:00 a.m. turnout was the second lowest in 30 years.
