University of Iowa Hawk Alert Indicates Reported Armed Robbery on Campus this Afternoon

A man reportedly threatened a woman with a knife and asked for her phone. The woman was unharmed in the incident according to the alerts.

The has issued a pair of emergency Hawk Alerts regarding a reported armed robbery on campus, with a possibly armed suspect still at large.

The first report, sent out at 2:19 p.m., describes a white man, aged 35-40, approaching a woman while displaying a knife and asking her for her phone. The man then was seem walking away east on Washington St. toward downtown.

The reports describe the suspect as a white male, 5 foot 9 inches in height and wearing red sweatshirt with a plaid shirt, glasses, and gray facial hair.

The second alert, sent out an hour later, stated that the suspect is apparently still at large, and that the woman was unharmed in the incident. The report is still under investigation by the University of Iowa police department.

As of 4 p.m. the University of Iowa reported that the university police is still searching for the suspect, with help from the Iowa City Police Department.
