Two Arrested in North Liberty Overnight Meth Bust

The building was evacuated for safety reason as it was unknown if an active lab would be discovered in the apartment.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, at approximately 9:46 p.m., a North Liberty police officer made contact with a subject near a vehicle in the parking lot of 40 Sugar Creek Lane in North Liberty. During the contact, officers discovered material used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Additional pre-cursors were believed to be in the subject’s apartment at 40 Sugar Creek Lane #202. The building was evacuated for safety reason as it was unknown if an active lab would be discovered in the apartment.  Police obtained a search warrant for the apartment and inside the Johnson County Multi Agency Drug Task Force located a meth lab. The material was removed from the building by the investigators a few hours later and residents were allowed to return.    

The following persons were charged:

Joshua Edwin York, 36, of 40 Sugar Creek Lane #202, North Liberty, was charged with Gathering for the Use of Drugs (Class D felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance Pre-cursor (Class D felony), and Manufacturing Methamphetamine (Class B Felony), and transported to the Johnson County Jail.

Janelle Rene Davis, 35, address unknown, was charged with Gathering for the Use of Drugs (Class D felony), Possession of Pseudoephedrine with the Intent to Manufacture (Class D felony), Manufacturing Methamphetamine (Class B felony), Distribution of Pseudoephedrine with the Intent to Manufacture (Class C felony) and an outstanding felony arrest warrant for a Revocation of Pre-Trial Release for Possession of Pre-Cursors and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. While in police custody, Davis was displaying sings of an overdose or other medical problems and will be medically released before being transported to the Johnson County Jail.  

The North Liberty Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Johnson County Multi Agency Drug Task Force, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the North Liberty Fire Department, and the Johnson County Ambulance Service.

The charges filed in this case are merely accusations.  All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. No additional information will be released at this time.
