Police are looking for more information about a pair of armed robberies that took place at Black's Gaslight Village last night.

Iowa City Police are looking for more information on a pair of armed robberies they believe were committed by the same man last night at Black's Gaslight Village at 422 Brown Street.

According to a police media release, at 11:33 p.m. last night, officers responded to the above address for the report of an armed person. While en route, officers were further informed that there were two separate calls from people reporting that they had been robbed. Multiple officers descended upon the area but were unable to find the suspect.

Upon later speaking with the victims, it was reported that the male suspect had approached them and pointed a black handgun at them and demanded their purses. This happened on two separate occassions, with one of the women running away from the man into a nearby residence, while the other woman gave the man her purse, and he then fled east on Brown Street. Both of these robberies happened within minutes of each other at the same location, according to the release. No one was injured in either incident.

From witness testimony, it was determined the most accurate description of the suspect was a thin black male, approximately 5'10" - 6'0" in height, in his 20's-30's wearing a dark blue or black hoody with white writing on it, dark pants, and dark shoes with white edges. The suspect also had a red bandana covering his face during the robbery, according to the release.
