Teen Murder Suspect's Twitter Account Active Following Death of Grandparents

Isaiah Sweet, 17, has been arrested on charges that he killed his grandparents.

The Twitter account of a in Manchester was active in the days following the killings, with Tweets about the boy being held by Iowa City police before they released him unaware of the crimes.

The Twitter handle @isweet37, which purports to be Isaiah Sweet of Iowa, continued a flurry of Tweets on Friday, when police reports suggest the couple may have been killed, then again on Saturday and Sunday.

Sweet, 17, of Manchester, was captured on Monday evening in Cedar Rapids on two first-degree murder charges.

Sweet said during a telephone call on Friday evening that he had drugged his grandparents and he thought they were dead, according to criminal complaints, which added that on Saturday he told two more people by phone that he killed his grandparents and he was on the run.

The bodies of his grandparents were not discovered until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, and Sweet was not captured until 7 p.m. Monday.

During this period, here are some of the Tweet's from the @isweet37 Twitter account.

Early in the day Friday, the account makes multiple mentions to apparently smoking marijuana: "Women weed and weather" (8:47 a.m.); "Smokin on that fire" (9:01 a.m.) "Im (expletive) up, torn down, im twisted, doorknob" (9:04 a.m.);"Live life smoke wee" (sic) (1:02 p.m.).

3:06 p.m.: "No excuses no apologies"

3:51 p.m.: "Im dying"

2:10 a.m., Saturday: "Time to live my live"

At 2:25 a.m., Saturday, he Tweets to another user, "text me asap," and then reaches out to the same person with his number at 10:33 a.m.

Early Sunday morning at about 2:30 a.m. and prior to the bodies being discovered, Sweet was picked up by local police in Iowa City and cited for driving with a suspended license. He was held until about 8 a.m. until being released to an adult, who has not been named.

At 8 a.m., Sweet's account becomes active again:

8 a.m.: Damn. Cant wait to get outa the cop shop #6unnessecaryhours

8:01 a.m.: You drunk (expletive expletive) snitch

8:03 a.m.: All youve done the past 30 minutes is sit in a corner and text? #Retardcop

8:05 a.m.: I also met a very funny black cop. #baaaller

8:10 a.m.: Okay that scared me

A few more Tweets came, including a mention of the "Theavengers," until his final post at 1:53 p.m. Sunday: "Cool leave me outside."
