Sexual Assault Reported on University of Iowa Campus

The female complainant, who lives off of campus, reported the assault to Iowa City Police on Friday.

A reported sexual assault that possibily occurred Friday morning on the University of Iowa campus is being investigated by University of Iowa Police.

According to a news release from the UIPD, the assault was reported by a female University of Iowa student who lives off of campus. The woman told investigators that the assault happened somewhere near the Becker Communication Studies Building or the Communications Center between midnight and 2 a.m.

The assault was originally reported to the Iowa City Police but turned over to the UIPD because the assault took place on campus.

The suspect is a college-age white male with brown hair.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to call the University of Iowa Police at 319-335-5022 or Iowa City Crimestoppers at 319-358-TIPS. Callers to Crimestoppers with information leading to a conviction may be eligible for a reward.
