Police: Taxi Cab Driver Robbed at Gun Point on Petsel Place

Police say the robbery occurred near Pheasant Ridge Apartments.


The Iowa City Police Department is looking for more information about an armed robbery that occurred near Pheasant Ridge apartment complex last night according to a police media release.

At 11:01 p.m. a driver with Five Stars Taxi company reported that he had been robbed by two black males in the parking lot of 2437 Petsel Place. The cab driver reported the men as wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident. The two men reportedly took a quantity of cash and fled on foot toward the Pheasant Ridge Apartments.

Iowa City and University Heights police officers responded to the scene but were unable to find the suspects. Investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to the release.

Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential, and the identity of the caller does not need to be revealed to collect the reward.

2437 Petsel Place is the same address where a fatal shooting of an Iowa City man took place on June 22 of last year.
