Police: Strong-Arm Robbery Reported Off of Mormon Trek at Bittersweet Court Address

This is the third reported robbery in this section of Iowa City in the last week.


Iowa City Police are looking for more information on a strong-arm robbery that happened in the early morning hours Wednesday on Bittersweet Court.

This would be the third aggressive robbery committed in the last week, all in close proximity in the Mormon Trek area. Police received a report at 4:53 a.m. that two hours earlier, at approximately 2:30 a.m., two black males wearing dark hooded sweatshirts approached a man in the area of 2400 Bittersweet Court and struck him in the face, taking the money from his pocket. The man did not require medical attention for his injuries.

The other two robberies were described as involving a weapon, with one taking place at 2437 Petsel Place, and the other at an unspecified address on Samoa Drive.

Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of this suspects. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential, and the identity of the caller does not need to be revealed to collect the reward.
