Police: Marion Woman Arrested After Robbing U.S. Bank in Coralville

The woman was found in a vehicle with no license plates after a multi-agency search involving local law enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigataion.


A Marion woman has been arrested and faces a felony robbery charge after authorities determined that there is "probable cause" to believe that she was responsible for a robbery at a U.S. Bank in Coralville today.

According to a Coralville Police media release a U.S. Bank branch in Coralville was robbed at approximately 10:22 a.m. this morning. The lone female involved in the robbery presented a note demanding money while brandishing a handgun and pointing it at the bank teller. She then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, according to the release.

After collecting witness testimony and following other leads, the Coralville Police Department stopped a white Toyota Sequoia with no license plates and arrested the occupant of the vehicle, a Jennifer Lee Redmond, 34, of Marion, who they believed was responsible for the crime.  Further investigation produced evidence to support the probable cause Redmond was responsible for the crime, according to the release.

Redmond, of 1115 Brockman Ave. in Marion, was arrested and booked into the Johnson County Jail at 3:33 p.m. this afternoon, according to online jail records. She has been charged with failure to display a registration plate, a minor offense, and first-degree robbery, a serious Class B Felony.

Online court records show that Redmond was found guilty of felony theft in Iowa County in 2011 and was charged with misdemeanor theft in Johnson County in 2010.

According to the release, the investigation was conducted with the assistance of multiple local agencies. Redmond was arrested by police after a cooperative investigation involving officers from the Coralville Police Department, Iowa City Police Department, University of Iowa Police, Marion Police Department, North Liberty Police Department and Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
