Police: Man Sexually Assaulted Ex-Fiance Who Was Incapacitated by a Medical Condition

The woman said she went to police because she was tired of running from her ex-fiance.

A Waterloo has been accused of felony sexual abuse for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman while she was unable to resist due to a medical condition.

According to an Iowa City Police criminal complaint, on May 23 the woman reported the alleged abuse to Iowa City Police. She said that Bryan Charles Alexander, 34, of Waterloo -- her ex-fiance and the father of her child -- "used to assault her while she was helpless due to a medical condition persisted for over a year," according to complaint. Alexander was allegedly recorded on the woman's voice mail admitting to an assault on her during the time in which the woman said it had happened.

The woman told police that she felt persecuted by Alexander and was tired from trying to evade him, as he "has a history of following [her] and showing up wherever she is," according to the complaint. She said that Alexander had also recently showed up at their daughter's school unannounced.

Alexander was booked into the Johnson County Jail on July 23. He is now in the Muscatine County Jail on $15,000 bail for a third-degree sexual abuse charge, a Class C felony.
