Police: Man Cited for Leaving Scene of Crash with Bus After Getting in Another Accident

After recording information from the first accident, police linked the man to the second.

An Iowa City man is accused of having a criminally bad period of driving Friday afternoon.

According to Iowa City Police complaints, on Aug. 16 at 12:06 p.m., Kabwe Omari, 37, of Iowa City allegedly rear-ended a city transit bus, causing injuries to two people inside who later had to be treated for their injuries at the hospital. Omari then drove away from the scene, according to the complaint.

However, a passenger on the bus was able to record the vehicle's description and license plate number. The police identified the vehicle as the same one that had rear ended the bus when Omari was involved in a later accident, according to the complaint.

Omari was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, a serious misdemeanor.
