Police: Iowa City Man Arrested For Exposing Himself in Children's Section of Public Library

Police say Eusebio Rodriguez was accused of exposing his genitalia in the children's section of the Iowa City Public Library on Aug. 3. Rodriguez claimed he had just been scratching himself.

An Iowa City man was accused of exposing his erect penis in the children's section of the Iowa City Public Library earlier this month.

According to a criminal complaint, on Aug. 3 at 3:30 p.m., two unnamed parties reported Eusebio Rodriguez, 49, of Iowa City for exposing himself in public, which they said offended them. Rodriguez was charged with indecent exposure, a serious misdemeanor, for the incident.

The two people told police that they had been sitting on a couch in the children's section reading when they noticed the Rodriguez sitting at a table, his penis hanging out of his shorts while he touched it. They told police that the man was looking at people in the room while he "the behavior continued."

Security tape showed both the reporting parties and Rodriguez in that section of the library at the same time, and also showed Rodriguez leaving the library at the same time the two people did, according to criminal complaints.

When asked about the incident by police, Rodriguez said he had been scratching his groin, which caused him to get an erection.
