Police: Intoxicated Man Breaks into Iowa City Home to Sleep, Then Makes a Bad Decision Worse
Some Iowa City residents had an uninvited guest Tuesday morning.
An Amana man faces public intoxication charges after he allegedly broke into the house of an Iowa City homeowner and fell asleep. And then things got worse.
say they were dispatched to a house at 671 S. Dodge Street at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday for the report of a man who had broken into the residence. According to the criminal complaint, the caller reported that the man, Reese Thomas Bryson, 23, of Amana, had fallen asleep in one of their beds.
After Bryson was shooed out of the house, he allegedly urinated in the home owner's front yard, and then shuffled on over to the enclosed porch next door. Police say they found Bryson passed out in the porch.

Police say the Bryson had slurred speech, appeared extremely intoxicated, and had trouble answering simple questions. According to the criminal complaint, when asked where he was, Bryson reportedly responded, "Kirkwood;" when asked what his first name was he responded, "Kirkwood;" and when asked what school he went to he reportedly responded, "Kirkwood."
Bryson's blood-alcohol content at the time of the arrest was .159 by breathalyzer test, according to the complaint.
