On Monday July 15, 2013, at 11:12 p.m. officers responded to 321 N. Johnson St. apartment #6 for a report of a robbery.

When the officers arrived they spoke with an adult male victim reported that the robbery started when a woman knocked on the door of his residence.

The man was pushed to the ground and struck twice in the head with the gun, giving him non-life threatening injuries. Later, witnesses reported seeing a group of black individuals run out of the apartment building at the before mentioned address, and get into a large white sport utility vehicle around the time of the robbery. Using the description, Iowa City and University Heights Officers located a vehicle and made contact with its two occupants. Further investigation by police made them believe that the people in the vehicle were involved in the crime.

As the investigation continued, three other suspects were identified by police. Police began looking for the final three suspects and that and resulted in two being located and taken into custody without incident by Iowa City and Coralville Officers on First Avenue in Coralville.
