Iowa City Police: 19-year-old North Liberty Man Killed in Crash

Police say a 19-year-old North Liberty man died early Saturday morning after crashing into a parked vehicle on I Street.

Iowa City police  are still investigating an early morning accident that killed a young North Liberty man Saturday, according to a press release from the department.

In the release, Police said Tyler Joe Fetters, 19, of North Liberty was driving at a high rate of speed down I Street when he crashed into a parked vehicle at the 2000 block of I Street. At 4:02 a.m., Iowa City Police, Johnson County Ambulance, and the Iowa City Fire Department responded to the scene.

Police say both Fetters and another passenger were extricated by the Iowa City Fire Department and transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals Emergency Treatment Center. There, Fetters died of his injuries, while the passenger is being treated for injuries that are believed to be non life-threatening.

As of Saturday morning, the Iowa City police were still investigating the cause of the crash, trying to reconstruct what happened at the scene, according to the release.
