Police: 19-Year-Old Iowa City Woman Killed in Sunday Morning Accident
Police are investigating the cause of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 1 W this morning.
An Iowa City woman lost her life in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 1 West this morning.
According to an Iowa City Police press release, at about 3:30 a.m. this morning, Bharati Mashay Windmon, 19, of Iowa City was the driver of a vehicle traveling on Highway 1 W between Hawk Ridge and Sunset Streets. Windmon then lost control of the vehicle and it left the road, rolling over into the ditch.
Windmon suffered fatal injuries from the accident, according to the release. The other four occupants of the vehicle only received minor injuries.

Iowa City Police were assisted by University Police, Johnson County Sheriff's Department, Iowa City Fire Department and the Johnson County Ambulance Service.
The crash remains under investigation.
