Occupant Treated for Injuries After Fire on Laura Drive

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

On Friday, September 13th, 2013 at 5:11 pm, the Iowa City Fire Department was dispatched for a structure fire at 1205 Laura Drive Lot 150. The fire department responded with two engines, a ladder truck, a quint, and a battalion chief. The first in units arrived to find smoke showing from the front door and the underside of the structure, a single wide manufactured home. Fire crews brought the fire under control within 20 minutes from the time of alarm. The fire was completely extinguished within 35 minutes from the time of alarm. An occupant and a pet were out of the home prior to the fire department's arrival. The occupant was treated and released by the Johnson County Ambulance Service. A total of 13 on duty firefighters responded. Crews were on scene for approximately 2.5 hours. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Other agencies that assisted included the Johnson County Ambulance Service, Iowa City Police Department, American Red Cross, and the Mid-American Energy Company.
