Mount Vernon Man Injured After Vehicle Collides with Tree, Nearly Rolls into Lake Macbride

The single vehicle accident occurred on Saturday.


A Mount Vernon man was transported by helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of injuries after he was involved in a single vehicle accident yesterday morning.

According to an Iowa State Patrol accident report, at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday a vehicle being driven by David Fleck, 46, of Mount Vernon, was driving north bound on Mahaffey Bridge Rd. when he left the roadway for an unknown reason, colliding with a tree. After impact Fleck's vehicle continued to roll down hill, coming to rest on the shore of Lake Macbride.

Fleck was wearing his seatbelt at the time of accident, according to the report. He was transported by air to UIHC for treatment of his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
