Man Thick in the Legal Weeds After Allegedly Finding Illegal Way to Keep His Hotdog Joint Smoking

During an investigation, police say they found guns and a lot of green that wasn't relish in the home of an Iowa City business owner.

An Iowa City business owner is facing charges after a search of his residence yielded a lot more than relish to keep his hotdog joint in the green.

According to police, they found money, guns and a whole lot of marijuana during their search February of last year of the residence of Ryan David Foust, 27, of 2387 Mehaffey Bridge Road, North Liberty.

In an interview with police following his arrest, Foust, the owner of Hawk Dawgs in Iowa City, allegedly admitted to selling the marijuana to help fund his hot dog business and keep it open.

Lee Hermiston of the Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that not long after this search, Foust led officers on a high-speed chase:

Police said a passenger in Foust’s car called 911 and said he was begging Foust to pull over. The caller said Foust had been drinking. Foust allegedly punched the passenger in the face and attempted to stop him from using the phone.

Foust was stopped near the City of Riverside exit. He failed field sobriety tests and registered a .122 on a blood-alcohol test, according to police. He was charged with eluding, drunken driving and assault causing bodily injury.

In addition to the charges from the chase, Foust faces the charges of gathering for the use of marijuana, money laundering, failure to affix drug tax-stamp, and felony marijuana possession with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm.

This place is delicious, their hot-dogs taste so good you'll swear you must be high. If you have some time to burn and you want the really good stuff, this should be the only joint you consider hitting. And if you have any left overs they have lots of zip-lock baggies so you can take home a couple of nug(gets) of the tasty goodness yourself!

Following his arrest, Foust posted his $17,000 bail on Monday and left the Johnson County Jail. His first court appearance is scheduled for April.
