Man Allegedly Threatens Police, Shuts Door on Officers Following Domestic Dispute: Iowa City Police Blotter, Jan. 18

Things went from bad to worse for an Iowa City man, after he allegedly threatened officers and shut the door on them as they were responding to an alleged domestic dispute.

Police say Marc Alonzo Katzenburger, 23, of the 400 BLOCK of Douglas Ct. was charged with interference with official acts with injury, fifth-degree criminal mischief, and domestic abuse assault for the series of events they say occurred on Jan. 17, at 5:10 p.m.

According to criminal complaints, Katzenburger was in an argument with his fiance at his residence, when she attempted to call a friend. He allegedly at this point took her cell phone and smashed it on the ground, then forcibly took her coat off.

When police arrived for the report of a domestic dispute, officers reported hearing yelling inside the residence. The fiance answered the door and reportedly told the officers to be careful, because Katzenburger wanted to hurt the police officers. Katzenburger allegedly came to the open door, and told the officers "you had better not come in here." When the officers attempted to enter the residence, Katzenburger allegedly closed the door shut on them. The officers struggled to gain entry, according to complaint, and fought with Katzenburger until he was subdued. Officers "sustained injuries" during the dispute, according to the complaint.
