Man Accused of Selling Marijuana, Possessing Firearm as a Felon: Iowa City Police Blotter, Jan. 16

An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday evening after a search of his residence allegedly revealed a marijuana selling operation and a .22 caliber pistol

Ricky Lamar Wallace, 27, was accused by police of felony marijuana possession with intent to deliver and possession of a firearm as a felon after they conducted a search of his apartment at 2446 Lakeside Dr. at 8:00 p.m. on Jan. 15. According to the criminal complaint, police found marijuana, digital scales, and packaging material in Wallace's bedroom. Wallace allegedly admitted the materials were his.

Police also said that during the search they sound a loaded .22 caliber pistol in the living room of the apartment. According to the complaint, witnesses told police that Wallace had been in possession of this weapon a week before the search. Wallace also allegedly admitted to the gun being in his possession. Wallace possessing a firearm is a felony, due to his previous drug conviction in Illinois on June 9, 2004.

Another man, Maurice Bernard Ghoston, of Alsip, IL., was charged for marijuana possession after officers allegedly found marijuana in his pants pocket during the search.
