Johnson County Sheriff: Muscatine Man Caught in Middle of Burglary
The man was captured by authorities after witness heard glass break at a nearby business.
A Muscatine man is in the Johnson County Jail and facing felony theft and additional misdemeanor charges after he was allegedly caught in the middle of a burglary.
According to a Johnson County Sheriff's Office criminal complaint, deputies were called to the scene of 3527 Dolphin Dr. SE in Iowa City by a witness who heard breaking glass at a nearby business. The witness reported seeing a person, later identified as Sean Ryan Burtlow, 30, of Muscatine, walking away from the business and get into a Silver Pacifica Van before driving away.

Burtlow was later found by deputies walking down the road on Herbert Hoover Highway. The vehicle was found a block away from the scene of the crime, and items found in the vehicle had Burtlow's name on them.
Burtlow is currently on the Johnson County Jail on a $17,250 bond. He is facing charges of second-degree theft, a class D felony; attempted burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor.
