Iowa City Woman Among Two Injured in Single-Vehicle Rollover on Interstate 380

The two motorists were transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment. The accident remains under investigation.


Two people were injured in a single-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 380 a little after midnight Saturday morning.

According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, officers responded at 12:06 a.m. to the nine mile marker on Interstate 380 for the report of the accident. There they found a vehicle rolled over in the east ditch, with two passengers inside.

The passengers were identified as Justin M. Garretson, 26, of Fort Dodge, and Leah D. Lawrence, 24, of Iowa City, and were transported via ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of their injuries.

Further investigation by state troopers indicated that the vehicle had been driving north on Interstate 380 when the driver, Garretson, lost control of the vehicle, veering off the road and rolling to a rest in the east ditch.

The state patrol is still investigating the circumstances behind the crash, according to the report.
