Iowa City Taxi Driver Robbed by Passenger Armed with Knife

A Yellow Cab driver reported being robbed at knifepoint just before midnight last night.


Iowa City police are looking for another man who committed a robbery with the use of a knife, this time stealing from a taxi driver.

Last night at 11:45 p.m., the received a report of a Yellow Cab driver being robbed at knifepoint on Warwick Circle, according to a police news release. The driver told police that he had picked up a man from downtown Iowa City and when the vehicle reached Warwick Circle the man revealed a knife and demanded money. The driver complied with the man's demands and the man escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to the release, the suspect was described by the driver as being a white male, late 30's to early 40's, roughly five foot five inches in height with a grey beard. The man was reported as wearing a blue hat, glasses, t-shirt and a brown flannel shirt, according to the release.
