The man called to inform the woman he had stolen her money, Playstation and sewing machine. This call turned out to be of great help in his eventual arrest.

An Iowa City man is facing a felony burglary charge after he allegedly called to inform the victim of the crime that he was the one who did it.

According to an Iowa City Police criminal complaint, police were called at 12:32 a.m. on April 1 for a 911 hangup at 1130 Oakcrest Street. When officers arrived they met with a woman who said she lived in an apartment on Benton Drive that had just been burglarized. The woman said a man had called her and said he had stolen her sewing machine, Playstation, and money.

Police brought the woman to her Benton Drive apartment to find the door kicked in and the woman was able to confirm the items were missing. The woman was able to give the police the name and description of the man who had called her, Earl Tyrone McKee, 22, of Iowa City, as well as his last known address.
