Iowa City Police Investigating Two Armed Robberies and a Stabbing

Police are looking for more information on these incidents.

On September 27, 2013 at approximately 11 p.m. Iowa City Police Officers responded to the Sycamore Mall for a report of an armed robbery. The victim of the robbery reported that after he left the movie he returned to his car. A black male knocked on his window with a pocket knife demanding that he roll the window down. The victim complied with the request and gave the male an undisclosed amount of cash. The black male is described as 5'6-5'8 between 230-250 pounds in his forties with a goatee and black and gray hair. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and jeans. He was last seen headed toward Panera Bread.

On 09/28/13 at approximately 11:30 P.M. Iowa City Police Officers responded to the area of Keokuk and Crosspark for an armed robbery. The victim of the robbery reported that while he was walking down Keokuk, he was approached by two white males. When they passed each other, one of the males stuck a knife in his back while the other demanded money. They took an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim's wallet and fled the area on foot last seen running west on Southgate Avenue. The males are described as 25-30 years of age. The male with the knife was 6'2 with black hair that touched his shoulders. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and black pants. The second suspect was 5'10 with shoulder length blonde colored hair. He was wearing a gray jogging suit and white gym shoes. The victim in this incident was not injured.

On 9/28/13 at approximately 8:30 P.M. Iowa City Police responded to the area of Sandusky and Taylor for a fight. Officers came in contact with the victim who had a laceration to his back. The victim was examined by EMT's from the Johnson County Ambulance. The victim refused treatment. The three assailants fled the area.

These incidents remains under investigation. Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of these suspects. Anyone with information about any of these crimes is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
