Iowa City Police Investigate Robbery of Mormon Trek U.S. Bank

Police were called to the scene of the robbery at 11:06 a.m.


Iowa City Police are searching for a man who reportedly robbed a U.S. Bank branch at 2312 Mormon Trek Boulevard this morning.

According to a police media release, at 11:06 a.m., a bank alarm was activated by an employee after a man entered the bank and passed a note stating it was a robbery. The man did not display a weapon and no one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a yellow pull-over fleece jacket, gray pants, a black stocking cap, black gloves, and sunglasses. He fled the area on foot in an unknown direction, according to the release.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential and the caller's identity does not need to be revealed to collect the reward.

Additionally, US Bank is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for committing this bank robbery.
